Accessing Development Tools

Development tools are accessed through the Development tab in the right sidebar:

  1. Switch to Development Mode by clicking the Development tab icon in the sidebar
  2. The development panel will appear with all adjustment controls
  3. Adjustments are applied in real-time to the currently selected image

Exposure Controls

Fine-tune exposure parameters with precise controls designed for both RAW and processed images.

Exposure Adjustment

Control the overall exposure of RAW files:

  • Range: -3.0 to +3.0 EV (Exposure Value)
  • Default: 0.0 EV (no adjustment)
  • Precision: 0.1 EV increments
  • Function: Adjusts the base exposure level.

Highlight Recovery

Recover detail in bright areas:

  • Range: -2.0 to +2.0
  • Default: 0.0
  • Function: Brighten or darken highlight areas selectively
  • Best Practice: Use to recover blown highlights in skies or bright areas

Midtone Adjustment

Control the midtone brightness:

  • Range: -2.0 to +2.0
  • Default: 0.0
  • Function: Adjust the middle brightness range

Shadow Recovery

Enhance detail in shadow areas:

  • Range: -2.0 to +2.0
  • Default: 0.0
  • Function: Brighten or darken shadow areas selectively

Luma Guard

Prevent blown-out highlights with automatic compression:

  • Range: 0.8 to 1.0
  • Default: 1.0 (no recovery)
  • Function: Compresses the brightest areas to preserve detail
  • Usage: Protect highlight detail in high-contrast scenes. Work best on RAW files that contains datas in blown-out highlights.

Black Point Adjustment

Control the darkest areas of the image:

  • Range: -2.0 to +2.0
  • Default: 0.0
  • Function: Adjust the shadow floor of the image

Color Controls

Professional color correction tools for accurate white balance and color enhancement.

White Balance (Temperature)

Adjust the color temperature:

  • Range: 2000K to 15000K
  • Default: 6500K (daylight)
  • Function: Correct color casts caused by different lighting conditions
  • Usage: Match the lighting conditions of the scene

Detail Enhancement

Definition/Clarity

Enhance mid-frequency details and local contrast:

  • Range: 0.0 to 2.0
  • Default: 0.0
  • Function: Enhance edge contrast and midtone detail
  • Effect: Makes images appear more defined and detailed
  • Usage: Subtle enhancement for natural-looking results

Histogram Display

Real-time histogram for exposure analysis:

  • Channels: RGB and Luminosity
  • Logarithmic View: Toggle for better shadow detail visibility
  • Live Update: Updates as adjustments are made
  • Clipping Indicators: Show blown highlights and blocked shadows

Using the Histogram

The histogram provides critical exposure feedback:

  • Left Side: Shadow detail
  • Right Side: Highlight detail
  • Peaks: Concentration of pixels at specific brightness levels
  • Gaps: Missing tones in the exposure range
  • Edges: Clipping indicators for over/under exposure

Histogram Channels

  • RGB Composite: Combined red, green, and blue channels
  • Red Channel: Red tonal distribution only
  • Green Channel: Green tonal distribution only
  • Blue Channel: Blue tonal distribution only
  • Luminosity: Brightness distribution ignoring color

Logarithmic View

Switch between linear and logarithmic display:

  • Linear View: Standard histogram display
  • Logarithmic View: Better detail visibility in shadow areas
  • Toggle Button: Switch between views as needed
  • Use Case: Log view helpful for shadow detail analysis
